cmcveay Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 I have a pair of Linksys Skype phones. I used these while deployed to a foreign location and it was a great way to keep in touch. The phones connect to your wireless network and use the free Skype voice service. They are literally two small handsets. Fully charged and ready to demo - I just called myself to test them since they've been in a box for a couple of years now. Great if you travel or if you have kids off in college and you'd like a less expensive way to keep in touch. TATTRAT Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 Pardon my ignorance. . .is this just VoIP? I know skype isn't free anymore, how do these link to a skype account? flickr
cmcveay Posted August 14, 2011 Author Report Posted August 14, 2011 Hey Jono - yeah, these are just voice (VOIP) so it's still free. You can either link them to a single Skype account or individual accounts and connect. There is a fee for calling outside of the VOIP but I never used them outside of that. While I was in GTMO, there were a couple of free WiFi hotspots and I used to carry one over there with me to make calls or I just called from the house where I had WiFi as well. 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon "Homer" 2012 MB/CR JCW R55 "Merlin" Sold 2009 LB/LB R56 "Archie" Sold
