gtrnka Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I was looking on Moss MINI to upgrade my wires, plugs and coil and wondered if any of you had a recommendation on what to get for my R53:questionmark:  Next Generation Trnka Toy 2003 R53 MCSm, EB/W
Luxor Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 I went with Alta's Ignition package: http://www.altaperformance.com/products/show/543/Ignition-Upgrade-Package- MSD Ignition Coil Magnecor Wires Brisk Racing plugs Make sure you check the pin connection before ordering as they suggest. If you install the coil yourself, be careful not to overtighten the bolts. I did and it cost me hundreds of $$$ for a new valve/ignition cover. Otherwise, have had no problems with the package. btw, if you watch Alta's site, they are always offering 15-20% discounts.
gtrnka Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 Hooah! Thanks for the recommendation!!! Next Generation Trnka Toy 2003 R53 MCSm, EB/W
Scavenger Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 The stock ignition components are really fine for everyday usage and won't provide any real performance gains, in fact, RMW uses stock wires, coil, and plugs for there 300+ Horsepower GP Racing Car which they had on display at MOTD. I've personally discussed this with Jan. Upgrading these items seems to be a waste of money. 2006 MCS, SB/S , "B.A." Performance: DINAN "Stage 5" tune, throttle body, boost kit (fuel pump, pulley), & CAI; JCW exhaust sans resonator, brakes, & GP IC; DDM IC diverter; CSF Racing Aluminum Radiator Suspension: DINAN front strut brace; Alta 22mm rear bar; KW V1 coil-overs; H-Sport adjustable rear control arms; CravenSpeed strut underators Interior: CravenSpeed gauge mounts with Cooper S boost and voltage, & shift well cover Wheels: Enkei PF01 17" Audio: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 HU; MTX Terminator speakers F&B Alan @ opensource.com
