  1. Yep I just watched ModMini who has a lot of videos on the r53. But I also have the Bentley Manual. I think a head gasket would probably be around a 7? Comparing that to doing more precise engine work. Cleaning up the mating surface of the block and installing ARP head studs made me the most nervous, not bc it was particularly hard but after doing so much work, I was concerned about putting everything back together and having mating issues. Selling it is definitely an option. You could also take the opportunity at 3800 if you trust yourself to install a performance head along with the new gasket. If you’re planning on building a car with a lot of mods, you can always scrap the idea of the S and go with an aftermarket turbo and all that jazz.
  2. Damn. Is there anywhere you can work outside like a friend’s driveway and do you have tools? Best thing you could is take the parts you disassemble home with you to not clutter their space, and when you’re done for the day, use an extra large car cover to cover the jack stands. Just to be as discreet as possible unless they’re car people and don’t care. The problem is you would need some time bc I’m sure you’d plan on taking the head to a machine shop.
  3. I’d offer a space if I had one. Any luck? I’ve done the head gasket on my r53. Unfortunately, it’s typically arm and a leg labor. I’m sure you know already the tight layout requires a lot of disassembly.
  4. I’m thinking of running the aquamist hfs3 to accompany my most recent mod, the tpr2r from Mike Schultz. I’m curious about anyone’s setup because I’d really like to run the pump and tank outside of the cabin. I’d like to use the headlight washer but I want to gravity feed the pump so I don’t know what options I have. Is there any component that allows for running the pump above the tank?
  5. Hi all, one of the threads for the lower engine mount plate is stripped, so if you have a heli-coil or any other means of fixing and would have use for it, I’m happy to give it to you.
  6. Asking $125. This gauge is new. I never used it. I’m going to go with a different setup purely for aesthetic reasons. Like the title says, it’s an oil and pressure gauge. Let me know if you have any questions!
  7. Hi all, Asking $225. This gauge is new. I never used it. I’m going to go with a different setup purely for aesthetic reasons. Like the title says, it includes a wideband, boost, and shift light. Let me know if you have any questions!
  8. Hi all, New member here. Would love to go to a meet up one of these days. I’m going to move within the area so now’s a good time to sell some stuff because I won’t have room for certain things. I can’t take a photo right now because we’ve got a bunch of boxes around it. Will update hopefully tomorrow. I’d like to sell this engine block with 199k for 100 bucks. Just the block. Before buying the R53 I have now, I briefly had one gifted to me by my uncle. It was cheap because he bought it from a friend. It had 199k when I took it apart as a parts car. I was in the process of shopping for a mini with less miles/different features when he decided to pick it up, and by the time I stripped it for parts and to beta test any repairs, it had a misfire. I cannot say what the source was as I didn’t have plans to keep it intact. I figured for 100 bucks somebody could be interested in possibly using it for a project/rebuild/etc. Or hey, I even thought it would be cool to have a machine shop clean/paint and use it for a coffee table. For the eccentrics I suppose. Let me know!
