  1. Our class is tight, but all of us are about 3 seconds off of where we should be. We should be comparable to SM and SSP, but both classes destroyed us.

I'll be at the FedEx race on the 23rd, I believe the waldorf event is the following weekend on April 30th. I plan on running that event as well. It is a fun location and a great group to run with. A bit more laid back and more runs.

Waldorf is definitely the following day, Sunday 4/24. I registered for it.

Guess it would be appropriate to list the events:

    WDCR-SCCA.org #1 - FedEx Field - Saturday, April 23, 7:30am-3:30pm

    AutocrossersInc.com #1 - Blue Crabs Stadium, Waldorf - Sunday, April 24, 8:00am-12pm

  2. I did horrible, but the car does feel better. I just need to knock the rust off the driver. Also, the times handed to me and on the display board don't match the ones that were posted online. I saw Lt.Dan's runs and he looked pretty great out there. How did you do Chris?

Your class of three looks tight with less than a second delta. D-Street was nine WRXs and Mimi. Times ranged 10 seconds. I was just barely next to last and 3 seconds behind the previous guy. I know places I could have pushed it more, but it's hard to remember realtime where it's feasible to gun it. I'll be at Saturday's and will probably go try Waldorf for the first time the next day. You know anything of that, Tyler?

  3. Yesterday in College Park I saw a light-colored MINI Convertible topless with a couple ladies in my rear view mirror. As I was turning left, they passed, honked and waved above the roofline. I waved as best I could as my top was up, but a good chance they saw if they were looking. In any case, made my day! :itsme:

  4. So we had a pretty bad winter here in Washington, DC where I'll be parking street-side. The snow had come down and covered cars with a few feet. Then most of us were shut-in since plows took a few days to dig us out, during which it was hard to even walk through the neighborhood, just to potentially clean off the top. Any experience, knowledge or tips?

  5. It's cool. I am so stoked for this run that I went and bought a pair of Motorola MR350Rs at BestBuy for just a little more than Amazon, and even registered for the 5-year GMRS license! WQXL571

Whether or not snow holds us back, hopefully I'll see y'all at Target!

  6. In preparation for my first DCMM run and since I've had the car less than two weeks from a sketchy used-car dealer, I had fluids checked and a wheel which seemed to have a slow leak looked at by PepBoys. Turned out the tire was fine, it's the rim that's a little bent, I'm guessing from a pothole I hit so hard I was surprised the tire didn't just blow :banghead: They added sealant for free but advised me to replace the rim if it keeps leaking.

Which brought up a related concern: I don't have a compact spare tire where its space is under the boot. I believe stock tires would have been run-flat, but my particular OEM 17" upgrade weren't (contrary to what the used-car dealer convinced me). So I called MINI of Montgomery County and they explained a spare wasn't included because it wouldn't have fitted in the front brakes of the Cooper S. So on a front flat, I would either have to install the spare on the rear then swap that rear with the flat, OR apply Fix-a-Flat or Green Slime then pump it up. I picked up FaF for now, but am tempted to add the compact spare and endure the whole swapperoo for more peace-of-mind in the case of a serious blowout.

I'd like to read some of your concurrence with what MoMC said, opinions and tips, but I also look forward to discussing it in person at tomorrow's run! And forgive me if it's already been addressed or a newbie fundamental issue, I searched but couldn't find an exact match :dontknow: Thanks!

Also there's usually members willing to share their extra one as long as you promise to return it.

Another reason radios are needed is some areas won't have cell reception.

Pretty sneaky -- Trying to get me to subscribe since those threads are inaccessible by non-members, eh? :)

Maybe it'll be good to see other people's in person anyway before I decide. My main feature would be handsfree or a headset.

  8. Hi everyone. Needed to replace my 2008 Lexus IS250 with 130k weary miles, and found a good deal in Rockville on a 2013 MINI Cooper S Roadster with only 8700 miles. Makes parking easier on DC street-side, and it was a lot more nimble yet fierce in the FedEx Field Autocross classes I already took it to this past weekend.

Not sure if these links will work, but I want to show off :)
