MOT - MINIs On Top 2013 (Mt. Washington, NH)

Recommended Posts

I discussed MINIs On Top (MOT 2013) at the Post Holiday Party and many have heard of it but no one seems to have attended. Since I cannot make MOTD 2013 at the beginning of May I am hoping to attend MOT 2013 in NH instead.

Here is the MOT 2012 page with archived info.:

Anyone else interested?

We did MOT last year. I try to do one big event besides MOTD and Mickey & MINI's in Orlando.

If you can possibly fit MOT into your schedule, DO IT! Besides hanging out with a load of cool MINI owners and having a good time, you'll see some of the prettiest scenery in the eastern US. I was entirely impressed with everything in NH. The roads, the mountains, the company, it was all great. I highly recommend it as an event. I'm headed to MINIs in the Ozark year, but I fully plan on hitting MOT in the future!

I've 4 weeks of vac and participating in MOTD means taking away from one of my regularly scheduled escapes. I don't think I could add another MINI event unless it coincided with an existing vacation (e.g. if MINIs in the Mountains http://minisinthemountains.com/ was sometime in the first half of July instead of Aug)

This is great to hear. We are making plans for a nice vacation and an extended 2K+ mile trip.

Paw paw just ran across this event a few weeks ago. I'd def look into it with my summer schedule being a lot more flexible than the Spring.

I missed our brethren from DCMM, but there were about 300+ mini's up there. We had a great time. I went up with my buddy from Boston. He drove his Stealth Bomber up there that was completely covered in gun metal grey plastidip. We set new top speeds on our Mini's and the huricane road drive was insane. Videos and pictures will be up soon on DB's facebook page.

After 13 day, 2,379 miles, 11 states, one foreign country (if you count Canada) up to Quebec City, and 8 MINI dealership stops (including MINI Ville de Quebec), we have made it back home. And my wife still loves me and hasn't killed me... yet. She had mentioned that she racked up a very large number of wifey points, which scares me some.

MOT2013 was a lot of fun with ~340 MINIs, ~307 that made the climb up Mt. Washington in the drizzle and fog, and 30+ MINIs from our neighbors to the north. I do not know if we would do the climb again unless there was good weather at the top but the climb was very well organized and having the mountain to ourselves was a lot safer than having cars going up and down at the same time.

Spending 2 weeks driving in Ernie was not bad since took a lot of back roads, took our time, and enjoyed the sights as we drove through the northeast. And my wife got to see a moose in the wilds of upper Maine and we have 102 pictures of the moose. Pictures will be coming (not just of the moose) but maybe not until the weekend.

I thought that was plastidip. Cool car and a nice job with the plastidip. :top:

Sounds like you made a great road trip of it, Bert... If I had vacation days to spare I definitely would have gone up. Thanks for reporting back. I saw a moose out west last fall and I did not get all the photos, but I did get the moose ornament, moose postcard, moose miniature painting...

Here are a few photos from Saturday, June 22nd in New Hampshire.

The first photo is the beginning of the morning gathering at Loon Mountain. The MINIs were lined up according to models and after our driver meeting people went on different runs or other things.

We all met back up around 5:30 PM at the base of Mt. Washington for dinner under the tents, presentations, and the drive up the mountain. It kept getting darker and more drizzle and more fog. It was still fun.... just don't ask my wife. :s:

I did not take two of these photos (#2 and #3), they were taken by the first car up the mountain, when it was still pretty clear.

NOPE! no guard rails.

A stone or rock here and there but nothing else.

I am SO glad that it was only MINIs, and the Park ranger vans leading and following the group. I cannot imagine doing that road in the middle of the summer, 85+ degrees, and cars going both directions. That is CRAZY. :stupid:

As it was, I don't think we got out of 2nd gear the whole way up and most of the way down. They keep telling you to say your brakes and clutch. It was still a blast!

Lots of roads like that in the Rockies - but a whole lot cooler than 85 degrees, closer to 65/70 (by day)
