  1. We should be able to make it in on time, but just so there's no rush or confusion, can someone from DCMM who's there early pick up mine and Steve's (so far) registration? We plan to do The Hub for dinner and get it by then. Thanks!

  2. In case anyone else wishes to join Bender and me, we are meeting up at the Manassas Virginia Welcome Center rest area on I-66 Westbound, between exits 52 and 47. I'm not posting this as an event just so we can be wheels up at 7:30am Wednesday, whether you're there or not. I printed out a few extra copies of our route. Motor on :motor:

  3. On my way to M&G on VA-267 W, caught up to a red Cooper S Cabrio with black sport stripes, and tags IWANDR. The woman driving and I enthusiastically waved to each other as we maneuvered through traffic and exchanging leads. Was thinking she was headed to Sterling, but we separated at VA-28 and bid adieu :itsme: Was fun

  4. Where do you mount the spare in a roadster?

I also got a spare when I did my first Dragon. Didn't use it then, but have used it several times since (all three times on a front tire, so yeah, it meant rotating a rear tire to the front and putting the donut on the rear. Once at night and in the rain in Rock Creek. Fun...NOT!)

For my first Dragon I also upgraded my AAA to 200 miles towing and almost needed it when I went to the Dragon in 2015. On the way home (I'd left a day early on Sat), pulling into a Starbucks in Asheville I got a CEL and my MINI wouldn't start. After letting it sit and cool and a couple of attempts at restarting I was able to get it to run in limp mode (thanks Celia!) and I limped the 130 miles to Hendrick MINI in Charlotte. Alternative was 120 miles to MINI of Knoxville.

Not a sermon, just a thought.

Wow, quite a bit of experience.

Not sure why I once felt discouraged about having room to carry a spare, maybe I didn't see the pictures at DetroitTuned of the tire sitting between front and rear passenger seats. But the Roadster has as much room behind its front passenger seat as well.

My extended warranty provides roadside assistance, so I should be covered but, at worst, I've had the tire-repair kit. I'll hope the odds just never get to that.

    But thanks for the thoughts!

  5. How about going west to I-81 before turning south? 95S always seems like such a mess, regardless of day or time of day. We could meet somewhere along -66, west of Centerville. Would that be workable for you, coming from in the District?

Definitely :top: That route didn't show up, but I punched it in and it's just about the same amount of time and distance. Not very familiar, so a good rendezvous is up to you. Possibly a highway rest area?

  6. Hello Competitive family,

I'm really struggling determining my AutoX class. Working through the SCCA rule book, I believe my car will be 'DS', 'FP', and 'DSP".

I'm hoping to have this nailed down so I can print letters and numbers before doing my first AutoX at MOTD this year. (yes, i am novice).

Could someone help me out? i've included a list of Mods to the car below.

    ---------------------------------

    R53 MCS

    CAI

    16% Pulley

    Bypass Valve (Detroit Tuned)

    Flashpoint MKII Header (WMW)

    JCW exhaust

    Koni Yellow Shocks(Dampen adjustable)

    H&R Lowersprings

    Fix Camberplates (front only)

    Adjustable 22mm Rear Swaybar

    ----------------------------------

Thank you for any assistance, I'm still reading/reasearching...not trying to dump this on anyone.

    Cheers,

    Ross

I'm no expert, but your car is definitely not DS due to the lowering springs. I dealt with that criteria for a previous car myself.

  8. Chris, I'm headed out on Wed, too. Haven't picked a time or anything, but I'm flexible. Going as a group would certainly be more fun!

Awesome, Steve! Well, I hope to get to Fontana Village by 5pm, in time to meet for the DCMM Hub Wednesday Dinner. Given that Google traffic at this time on a Wednesday shows about 8.5 hours from Passport MINI of Alexandria, and tacking on an hour for maybe quick grub, pitstops and/or margin of error, leaving at 7:30am looks like a feasible time. I'm assuming MINI Alexandria would be a good gathering point, especially if others join us. We can arrange with DCMM cronies to pick up our registrations ahead of time.

Any other input is welcome, like even just going straight to The Hub and saving us about a half hour or playing it by ear, so to speak, and deciding over radios last minute.

  9. Notice the 4 cones I hit are all lying down, so they are pointer cones that don't count against my time. Usually at least one cone will stand at the end of a row of pointer cones to serve as the border which would result in the penalty. The slight error in the cone configuration essentially allowed freebies :motor:

  10. has anyone heard back from Mike I emailed him a question and have got crickets back.

On 2/24 we exchanged a few emails, but I just specified what I wanted and had no questions. I did include my model, year, the DCMM event 4/2, name, and phone. He sent the purchase link to the email I have registered with PayPal.

  11. Heading southbound on Rock Creek tonight I saw Chris heading northbound with his top down. At was 7:20P, he was north of VA Ave and stuck in the traffic due the accident blocking the road at the P St ramp.

I was moving a wee bit too fast to roll down my window and wave, but here ya go now :wavey:

Aw, mad I missed ya. Woulda made the half-hour jam more tolerable. :wavey: anyway

  14. I guess at least one of us should record the successful pass-by wave on outer Beltway around Exit 44 at 5pm Friday. I didn't react immediately to GreenCactus and Cricket's freakin foghorn because I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong minding my own business in the slower lane. But hearing it a second time right next to me nearly ripping my eardrum in half, I look to my left and see Laura excitedly waving and I wave back, just as excitedly :itsme: HI!
