Ha .. and since I saw there was a photoshoot, I thought for sure you were going to be there! Have fun at the beach! You'll be missed!

Crap.. this looks like a lot of fun, but I just don't have another weekend to squeeze anything in for August! I've followed the event on Facebook so I can promote it to our club next year.

I know what you mean, not enough weekends for all the options!

I know the dealership is hosting a breakfast and a dinner, I've got fingers crossed there's enough of a turn out that they are inclined to do the same in the future! Regardless, it's a place I've never been, and I'm going through Mini Takes the States withdrawal so I'm ready!

MINIs Take Mountain Lake (4th annual)

I was really posting this to see if others were planning to attend and interested in caravanning .. but then I realized if you aren’t on Facebook (like me) you might not have even heard about it, so I thought I’d post the details. It’s not too late to join in ..

You are invited to the 4th episode of fun in the world of MINI. Southwest Virginia is home of beautiful mountains and roads that flow right to our destination, Mountain Lake Lodge. Wilderness and adventure is literally outside your door. This is also home of the classic film "Dirty Dancing". We have events planned on this weekend get-a-way. BBQ's and bonfires, swaying roads and great food! There are countless activities that the resort makes available to each guest from bird watching to zip lining. We are very excited to have leaders in the MINI community by our side. Flow MINI Out Motoring and GoBadges will help support our MINIacs. Welcome and thank you for being a part of the fourth annual MTML, hosted by MINI Club of Southwest Va.

    Mountain Lake Lodging

    Schedule of events:

    Friday:

    Duncan Imports and Classic Cars

This is a must see classic car collection that is the largest of its kind in North American.

    Star-light Drive In

We will head out to Starlight Drive-In to watch the big screen in style and from the comfort of our MINIs or lawn chair. This has been a MINIs Take Mountain Lake favorite over the last few years. The movie is Antman and the Wasp followed by Mamma Mia 2 if you’d like to stay. This year we have reserved a row of parking. Please let us know in advance who will attend this event so we have enough spots so we can all park together.

    Saturday:

Paint Bank "Route 311" Lunch Run (featuring Carol Lee's Donuts)

5pm: Flow MINI of Winston Salem BBQ at MINIs Take Mountain Lake

    7pm: Southern "S" posure

    9pm: MINIs & Marshmallows

    Sunday:

    11:00 AM EDT

Last Run to The Palisades (Rally & Brunch)

    The Palisades Restaurant  Eggleston, VA

    More Details:

    MTML Facebook

Oh, back to my original topic .. if you are attending and want to caravan, I'm planning to leave Frederick MD around 9am .. send a PM to co-ordinate!

Looking forward to this being some MINI withdrawal relief after MTTS ..

  3. WINIFiED is on a truck with 8 of her MINI cousins on her way to Portland, due in Sunday night.

I am still interested in anyone who is going to do the express run back to the mid-Atlantic leaving out of Keystone on Sunday after the farewell breakfast. I know alot of people have more leave time than I do ? .. I do here there are 3000 MINIs that will be in Portland on the 14th and have heard 6000 at Keystone, but I'm not sure if that is MINIs or people .. so psyched!!

  4. Just as an FYI, we need 2 MINIs on the transport truck out of Atlanta to Portland to qualify for the $750/MINI price. If anyone is thinking of doing the west route and driving to the start point, unless you've got a lot of fun stuff planned along the way, consider shipping your MINI. It will spare many miles on the odo and the wear and tear *before* the event. Please post ASAP if you need additional information as the MINIs need to be in Atlanta on or before July 1. They will be shipped to MINI of Portland to have good eyes on them until we arrive. Feel free to send PM for any additional questions!

  5. Have a family member interested in joining -- the family. Since the budget is dictating a used MINI, it would be great to find one that has a known history (read: club member) that would fit the bill. Only "must have" specs -- automatic (yea, go ahead and groan) -- looking at 2015 model year, but if it's close, send the details.

Preference is 4 door, but if you've got a 2 door and you're moving out of the country next week so have a fire-sale price on it, it might be of interest.

Send details and photos and I'll forward. I'll mark the post CLOSED when a MINI has joined the stable. It will happen, just a matter of the right deal ..

MINI has been purchased .. but Stephens got a great Countryman / R60 for sale at this time if anyone is interested, PM him!

  6. Still working on the logistics of getting my MINI to Portland, but since I have some non-refundable hotels on the West route, guess that means I'm committed. Regardless of which direction you are heading "from" we'll all be going back to the same general east destination. On MTTS 2016 I split from the group in Cheyenne, headed south and spent a couple of days in CO with family, friends, and other MINI people and then made it back to MD in 2 days. Yes, two. Started early each day and since it says light til late I wasn't ready to stop driving til about 9-10pm that first night. All that to say that if anyone has interest in the speed run back east from Keystone (leaving out right after breakfast and the AM "good bye") let me know. We had a caravan of 3 on the return in 2016 and it would be great to have a couple of others this year, too .. (Tiger's Mom, obviously not you since you're going by way of Amarillo .. and yes, that is definitely cool that your Mom is joining up!!!)

  10. As an FYI, in the description this still says "Have your Sunday free" so I had to scroll through the messages to figure out whether the date was wrong or the day was. Would love to go some year but this year doesn't work ... have fun and be safe!

  11. Anybody from DC Metro going this Sunday? My MINI is currently in Hampton Roads getting spruced up and I would love to be able to catch a ride to Crown MINI in Richmond (or Yorktown) to pick her up and then head to this event. Crown MINI in Richmond is sponsoring breakfast and then at 10:45 the Hampton Roads and RVA (Richmond) MINIs are headed to Saude Creek for lunch. If anyone is going from the area please do two things 1) RSPV on the Hampton Roads site - (they need a head count) and PM me and let me know if I can catch a ride one way. (I will need to confirm a ride for Sunday by this Wednesday, otherwise I'll need to make alternate pick up arrangements and likely won't be able to make this event!

  12. Enjoyed meeting up with everyone today! Especially the post lunch drive, when the weather was a little more co-operative, the roads were great. Enjoyed my "free" wine-tasting at the vineyard, too! Thanks for all the efforts put into organizing and pre-running and making sure it all went smoothly .. see y'all again soon!

  13. Maybe it's just me .. but in the first thread one place indicates 9:30 .. the other 10am .. please clarify which it is. (I did see the note that the schedule was "pushed back" 30 minutes, but pushed back can mean pushed back (back on the clock) from 10a to 9:30 or it can mean pushed back as in later from 9:30 to 10 .. ) I've got an hour+ drive to the meet up spot and though I'm still leaning toward meeting at the lunch spot, if it's not raining in the AM (fingers crossed) I don't want to miss you by 30 minutes .. sorry for the confusion and thanks in advance for the clarification!

    • Well-behaved children and young adults under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult.

I can't help but laugh at this one.

It could otherwise imply that poorly behaved children *do not* need to be accompanied by an adult (a la let 'em run amok!)

    See ya Sunday!!

  15. I've got it penciled in .. and thanks Erica for cross-posting .. I had seen it in a mass email a few weeks ago but had forgotten. I'm not 100% certain yet, but should know in the next week. Somebody point me to a link to RSVP on this? Thanks!

  16. As an update to the Ship to Portland idea, there is a sign up list from Facebook here: Transport to Portland interest on Facebook

There is sufficient interest to get a truck out of Atlanta, still hoping we can get one closer than that. Put your name on the google doc link or PM me directly; if I get a half dozen other MINIs I'll start making some phone calls. The individual heading up the Atlanta transport is also in contact with the drop off MINI dealer in Portland so that part of the process should be but a formality.

  17. Since being in Orlando / Tallahassee / New Orleans in the middle of the summer holds no appeal to me, I'd consider shipping my MINI to Portland and doing that route .. anybody else? (and if anyone hears of anyone organizing a transport truck to the PNW from the east coast, please post details / contact info. Can't consider the ship & fly without the details. Thanks!

  18. If there is anyone that did not order a shirt the first time, we are looking into doing a second order. We need a minimum of 24 shirts and we have 13 on the list so far.

If you are interested, please email your order to me at greencactus2007@gmail.com and put "MTTB 2nd Shirt Order" in the subject line. I will confirm with you whether or not we are able to do a second order. If you filled out a form at the event, there is no need to send me an email.

Please submit orders to me by Friday, November 23, 2012.

    Please choose from this list:

    Mens or Ladies Short Sleeve Crew Neck: $15 (s-xl), $17 (2xl), $18 (3xl)

    Mens or Ladies Long Sleeve Crew Neck: $20 (s-xl), $22 (2xl), $23 (3xl)

    Ladies Short Sleeve V-Neck: $20 (s-xl), $22 (2xl)

    Pullover Hoodie: $28 (s-xl), $30 (2xl), $31 (3xl)

    Zippered Hoodie: $36 (s-xl), $38 (2xl), $39 (3xl)

What's the status on the 2nd run? I hope people interested were contacting you direct, Laura, so that there's enough (which it wouldn't look like based on thread replies!) .. if not enough not sure if the deadline can be extended another week - 10 days so that anybody too busy with Thanksgiving and Black Friday might now start thinking about that MINI person they just need one more stocking stuffer for ..

    (I'm tryin'!)

    Thanks!

PS If you are able to extend the deadline, maybe Edit Post # 1 that indicates the deadline has past and note the new deadline .. ?
