We depart at 10am <\;strong& gt\;sharp!<\;/strong>\; <\;span style=\"color:#FF0000\;\">\;<\;s trong>\;Don't be late!<\;/strong>\;<\;/span>\;<\;/p>\;\n<\ ;p>\;<\;strong>\;RUN DISTANCE:<\;/strong>\; <\;strong>\;<\ ;span style=\"color:#0000FF\;\">\;69.6 miles (morning) + 68.0 miles (aft ernoon) = 137.6 miles total.<\;/span>\;<\;/strong>\; Easy \"early exits\" available in afternoon at 88.7 miles (Rt 66)\, 105.7 miles (Rt 50) and 123.9 miles (Rt 50).<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;<\;strong>\;RUN TIME :<\;/strong>\; Approx 6.5 hours - we will return to the Target parking lot at approx. 4:30pm\, if you decide to complete the full run.<\;/p> \;\n<\;p>\;<\;strong>\;WHAT TO BRING:<\;/strong>\; Full tank o f gas\, 2-way radio\, money to buy lunch (cash please - makes it easier fo r the check)\, sweater/raincoat/umbrella (if necessary\, depending on weat her) and a fun-loving attitude! :top:<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p> \;\n<\;p>\;A quick refresher:<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n <\;p>\;One of my fondest MINI-related memories is the very first drive I ever participated in with DCMM - it was the Spring Fling\, created by B ruce Pancoast (<\;a href=\"http://www.dcmetrominis.org/forums/member.php ?u=68\" rel=\"external nofollow\">\;mty_mini<\;/a>\;)\, and organize d with help from Jen Oakes (<\;a href=\"http://www.dcmetrominis.org/foru ms/member.php?u=79\" rel=\"external nofollow\">\;Jen<\;/a>\;) - who was our event coordinator at the time. This all happened on Sunday\, April 24\, 2005... only 7 1/2 weeks after I picked up my brand new MINI. Alan ( <\;a href=\"http://www.dcmetrominis.org/forums/member.php?u=2\" rel=\"ex ternal nofollow\">\;Scavenger<\;/a>\;)\, who was getting his first e xposure to the MINI\, came along as my co-pilot.<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;  <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;Meeting in the Sterling Wegmans parking lot (ne ar MINI of Sterling)\, it was fun to meet a whole bunch of like-minded MIN Iacs all at once\, for the first time. Little did I know just how much fun there was still to come... after grabbing some coffee and/or breakfast sn acks from Wegmans.<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;The roads were beautiful and twisty\, and was such an awesome experience to be in a long line of MINIs for the very first time. We stopped for lunch at Orlean Market in Upperville\, VA (in western Fauquier County)\, then conti nued on for wine tasting at Naked Mountain Vineyard &\; Winery after th at\, before heading all the way back to Wegmans.<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;  <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;It was a long day (128 miles or so!)\, but <\ ;strong>\;so<\;/strong>\; nice.
