G enerally speaking\, I prefer to organize this event for the weekend follow ing tax day... but this year I have to do it earlier for these reasons:&l t\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;<\;/p>\;\n<\;ul> \;<\;li>\;The IRS has extended the tax deadline to Monday\, April 18&l t\;br />\;<\;/li>\;\n<\;li>\;The weekend following that (April 2 3/24) is immediately prior to MOTD\, which would make things difficult for many people.<\;br />\;<\;/li>\;\n<\;/ul>\;<\;p>\;<\;/p& gt\;\n<\;p>\;So... save the date for Saturday\, April 9! Even if you haven't finished your taxes by then\, you'll still have 9 more days after that to do them!<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;<\ ;strong>\;WHERE TO MEET:<\;/strong>\; Sterling Wegmans parking lot ( North-East corner)<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;<\;strong>\;WHEN:<\;/stro ng>\; Saturday\, April 9 @ 9:30am. Driver's meeting at 9:50am. We depar t at 10am <\;strong>\;sharp!<\;/strong>\; <\;span style=\"color: #FF0000\;\">\;<\;strong>\;Don't be late!<\;/strong>\;<\;/span& gt\;<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;<\;strong>\;WHAT TO BRING:<\;/strong> \; Full tank of gas\, 2-way radio\, money to buy lunch (cash please - ma kes it easier for the check)\, sweater/raincoat/umbrella (if necessary\, depending on weather) and a fun-loving attitude! :top:<\;/p>\;\n<\ ;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;A quick refresher:<\;/p>\;\n<\;p&g t\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;One of my fondest MINI-related memories is t he very first drive I ever participated in with DCMM - it was the Spring Fling\, created by Bruce Pancoast (<\;a href=\"http://www.dcmetromini s.org/forums/member.php?u=68\" rel=\"external nofollow\">\;mty_mini<\; /a>\;)\, and organized with help from Jen Oakes (<\;a href=\"http://ww w.dcmetrominis.org/forums/member.php?u=79\" rel=\"external nofollow\">\; Jen<\;/a>\;) (who was our event coordinator at the time). This all h appened on Sunday\, April 24\, 2005... only 6 or 7 weeks after I picked up my brand new MINI. Alan (<\;a href=\"http://www.dcmetrominis.org/for ums/member.php?u=2\" rel=\"external nofollow\">\;Scavenger<\;/a>\;)\ , who was getting his first exposure to the MINI\, came along as my co-p ilot.<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;Meeting in the St erling Wegmans parking lot (near MINI of Sterling)\, it was fun to meet a whole bunch of like-minded MINIacs all at once\, for the first time. L ittle did I know just how much fun there was still to come... after grab bing some coffee and/or breakfast snacks from Wegmans.<\;/p>\;\n<\;p >\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;The roads were beautiful and twisty\, and was such an awesome experience to be in a long line of MINIs for the ver y first time. We stopped for lunch at Orlean Market <\;span style=\"co lor:#000000\;\">\;in Upperville\, VA<\;/span>\; (in western Fauqui er County)\, then continued on for wine tasting at Naked Mountain Vineya rd &\; Winery after that\, before heading all the way back to Wegmans .<\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\; <\;/p>\;\n<\;p>\;It was a long day (12 8 miles or so!)\, but <\;strong>\;so<\;/strong>\; nice.
